Moscow is undoubtedly the economic centre of Russia. The booming Russian economy is largely supported by the revenues pouring from sales of the raw materials of the vast country. Russia’s economy is growing at a rapid pace and Moscow is both the first and the main beneficiary of this trend.

The wage structure in Moscow is also changing as a result of the economic growth. Moscow can now be said to suffer from a lack of specialist workers in some sectors, particularly at the high-skilled end. Moscow is not only a city of multimillionaires, it is also home to a burgeoning Russian middle class. The Moscow property market has been developing extremely quickly since 1990 as a consequence of this economic and sociodemographic trend. It has enjoyed a consistent upward trend since the end of the old Soviet Union.
